ACESL - The Association of Consulting Engineers

Association of Consulting Engineers, Sri Lanka (ACESL)

ACESL is the national body of consulting engineers in Sri Lanka. ACESL is affiliated to the International Federation of Consulting Engineers FIDIC.

Founded in 1980 to promote common professional interests, ACESL now comprises 18 firms and 156 individual members. The ACESL has been incorporated under the Companies Ordinance as a Company Limited by Guarantee and not with a share capital; since the enactment of the Companies Act No. 17 of 1982, operate under the Companies Act. It was incorporated by an act of parliament No. 42 of 2003.

Mission

To develop Consulting Engineering practice whilst enhancing the profile of Consulting Engineers in Sri Lanka. To contribute in the Planning and the Implementation in the Development of Sri Lanka. To assist Consulting Engineers Develop their skills and share knowledge. To promote in providing a quality service to the public. To assist in export of Engineering Consultancy services.

Objectives

The objects of the ACESL are :

To foster and promote the profession of consulting engineering.
To promote and safeguard the professional interests, rights, powers and privileges of consulting engineers.
To offer the Government, its subsidiaries and a forum to discuss and ascertain the views of consulting engineers on matters directly or indirectly affecting engineering.
To facilitate give the Government and other public bodies and others the facilities for conference with and ascertaining the views of consulting engineers as regards matters directly or indirectly affecting engineering.
To discuss with associations representing manufacturers, contractors and other persons engaged in engineering works on matters of common interest;
To introduce general standards of professional conduct and practice for Consulting Engineers and ensure the maintenance of such standards in their professional activitie.
To determine scales of fees and conditions of engagement for consulting engineers, within Sri Lanka.
To enter into any arrangements with the Government and its subsidiaries with a view to promoting all or any of the objects of the Corporation and promoting such rights, privileges and concessions as are appropriate for a professional association.
To liaise with association of consulting engineers in other countries and affiliate with international consulting engineering organizations.
To take any other measures that may be necessary for the attainment of all or any of the objects of the corporation.
